About the Flag

SMUV (Schweizerischer Metall- und Uhrenarbeiterverband, later Gewerkschaft Industrie, Gewerbe, Dienstleistungen)
(= Swiss Union of Metal and Horology Workers, later Trade Union Industry, Construction and Services)

The SMUV/FTMH/FMLO was founded in 1915 and adopted its later name in 1992 (but kept the old abbreviations). In 2004, it merged with VHTL/FCTA, unia, GBI/SIB/SEI and "actions" to form the new trade union "Unia". It was active among metal workers and clock workers.

The logo in the 1980s and 1990s showed a white demi-cogwheel combined with a stylized clock (the hands in black or red) on a grey field; to the left the abbreviations in three languages in black.

One flag used this logo on a red field; in this case, the clock arms were black [1,2,3,4,5,6,7].

Another flag showed the logo on a white field; in this case, the clock arms were red [1,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16].
